Riverkeepers Host Environmental Film Festival Beginning This Weekend

Join the Apalachicola Riverkeepers when they host the Wild & Scenic Environmental Film Festival On Tour August 27-28 in Carrabelle and September 3-4 in Apalachicola.   The festival is FREE.  Reserve your seats at www.riverflix.org.

The Wild & Scenic Environmental Film Festival On Tour brings together a selection of films from the annual festival held the third week of January in Nevada City, CA. The 2010 Apalachicola Riverkeeper Wild & Scenic Environmental Film Festival On Tour will feature more than a dozen films, including FRESH, which celebrates the farmers, thinkers, and business people  and offers a practical vision for a sustainable future. Also, on the program is What is That?, a profound fictional conversation between a father and son and A Simple Question: The Story of S.T.R.A.W., about a fourth grade class-project that led to the restoration of 20 miles of the Stemple Creek watershed.
The festival will also feature two films from the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint River watershed: Cud, which presents the story of Will Harris, his dog Possum, and his eco-friendly cow operation in Early County, Georgia and Working the Miles, which tells the story of Johnny and Janice Richards’ careers catching and shucking oysters from Apalachicola Bay.   Both films were made by the Southern Foodways Alliance, www.southernfoodways.com.

All screenings start at 7 p.m.  There are two programs: Program I will be shown each Friday and Program II each Saturday.  Each lasts one hour and 45 minutes.  Please arrive early.

“The Wild and Scenic Environmental Film Festival provides a fresh look at what folks in other parts of our nation have done to protect their home country.  The films are funny, sad, amazing and practical.”
