Thanks to a partnership with LYNX, Valencia College students and employees are able to ride the LYNX system absolutely free. Bus services are available on all LYNX fixed-routes and NeighborLink routes during times in which LYNX is in service.
Valencia College students and employees only need their Valencia College IDs to be able to ride for free.
According to Valencia, the college does not pass this cost on to the students, but sends the funds directly to LYNX. Valencia College pays LYNX an annual service fee for transit services for Valencia students and employees – allowing currently enrolled students, as well as full- and part-time employees, to ride the LYNX system for free.
Recently, the school reminded students to utilize the perk for many reasons to get around Orlando.
“Pumas, you can now use your Valencia ID to take a LYNX express bus from the downtown bus station to Universal Studios or to Disney World, with stops at Disney Springs and the Magic Kingdom ticket center,” a social media post stated. “That’s great news whether you’re commuting to the parks for a job — or just want to ride the bus for a fun day at the parks or at Disney Springs or CityWalk. Check out Link 38 (Universal, I-Drive and the convention center) and Link 300 (Disney Springs and Disney World.)”
In addition to the free transportation, Valencia College works with LYNX on other efforts, including: planning and implementation of additional routes; internship programs for students; a planning and data sharing partnership; student research opportunities; training for LYNX employees; and, sustainability projects.
