Candidate for Orange County Property Appraiser, Rick Singh, has received a major endorsement – the AFSCME Florida Council 79.
AFSCME Council 79 is the second largest union in Florida with 90 locals representing approximately 110,000 employees. Union membership includes employees of Florida public colleges, universities, municipalities, counties, school boards and private nonprofit hospitals; their endorsement is a major milestone for Rick Singh in his campaign to be Orange County’s next Property Appraiser.
Jeanette D. Wynn , President of the AFSCME Florida Council 79, in endorsing Rick Singh said, “the careers and retirements of our public servants depend on the policy and budget decisions made by elected officials.”
“I am pleased and honored to receive the endorsement of AFSCME. Their support shows their confidence in my experience and integrity to bring fairness back to Orange County,” said Singh, a State certified property appraiser.
He explained, “I am ready to work for the over 100,000 members of the AFSCME, and all of Orange County, to restore fairness and accountability to property owners of Orange County. It is not enough to be a political figure in the office of property appraiser – one must be qualified to deal with complex appraisal issues and ensure fairness is enforced across the board, especially in these troubling economic times. As the next Orange County Property Appraiser, I will implement my F.A.I.R. Plan to ensure that all homes and businesses are appraised fairly and equitably.”
Singh is certified by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) as a property appraiser with 17 years of public and private experience in the real estate industry.
In an exclusive interview with West Orlando News Online earlier this month, Singh discussed a range of issues that plague the Orange County Property Appraiser’s office including, the millions of dollars in property assessments overturned each year by the Value Adjustment Board, fair and equitable property assessments and the protection of seniors, thereby ensuring that they are not taxed out of their homes.
