Democratic candidate for governor, Nan Rich has secured the endorsement of the National Women’s Political Caucus of Florida.
President of the National Women’s Political Caucus, Beth Lerner, in endorsing Rich praised the former legislator for her commitment to women’s issues.
“Senator Rich has a longstanding history of working for women and women’s issues from her time in the Florida House of Representatives as well as during her eight years in the Florida Senate, serving the last two as minority leader,” said Lerner, in a statement. “Senator Rich has shown a commitment to women’s rights and improving the working class family through progressive legislation. She has never wavered in her commitment to her beliefs; her beliefs are our beliefs.”
Rich, for her part, expressed appreciation for the Caucus’ endorsement and shared the view that women voters will play a pivotal role in the outcomes of the Democratic primary and in turn, who occupies the governor’s mansion.
“I’m very proud and honored to receive this important endorsement from the National Women’s Political Caucus of Florida,” Rich said. “I have no doubt that women voters can and will be the deciding factor in the outcome of both the Democratic primary and the general election. Women are the caregivers, the mothers, and the grandmothers. We understand the importance of a quality education for our children and we absolutely know that health care for everyone is an absolute priority. That’s why I’m counting on women – and enlightened men – to carry our campaign to victory. Thank you so much for your support and endorsement.”
Earlier this month, former Republican Governor, Charlie Crist, now a Democrat, announced he would like his old job back and entered the 2014 gubernatorial race.
