Republican Gains Among Latinos Reshape Battlefield Against Darren Soto

Republicans say gains among Latino and Hispanic voters reshape the battlefield against Central Florida Democratic Representative Darren Soto.

“Hispanic communities are sick and tired of radical Democrat Darren Soto turning his back on Floridians time and again,” said NRCC spokeswoman Maureen O’Toole. “Hispanics are forcefully rejecting the far-left agenda that resulted in years of open borders, skyrocketing prices, and woke insanity like men in girls’ sports. Republicans are the party of common sense, and Hispanic voters know it.”

The National Republican Congressional Committee said that gains among Latino voters are completely reshaping the battlefield in Florida because voters see Republicans as the party of commonsense, and “out of touch” Democrats like Rep. Darren Soto as the “party of lunacy.”

In Florida’s 9th congressional district alone, voters have shifted toward Republicans by 22.9% from 2016-2024. And GOP vote share among Latinos has gone from 29% in 2018 to 43% in 2024, according to the NRCC.

Republicans are targeting the Central Florida Democrat and believe this could be a seat to gain in Congress from the Democrats.
