Reported death turns up baggies of cocaine, woman arrested

Detectives turned up cocaine, cannabis in various stages of production, and a grow house operation after responding to reported death at a Waverly residence on Wednesday.

Polk County investigators said, upon responding to a home in the 200 block of C.F. Kinney Road in Waverly, after a reported death, they found Milca Suarez, 42, performing CPR on her husband, Luis Suarez, 42.  Deputies and emergency medical responders attempted to revive the victim but were unsuccessful.

As detectives were investigating the death, a plastic baggy with 7.2 grams of cocaine powder was found in a nightstand in the couple’s master bedroom and about 249 grams of cannabis, processed and packaged for sale located in the bedroom closet. A further search turned up another 326 grams of cannabis in an office desk drawer.

Milca told investigators she had hidden the cocaine and cannabis in the master bedroom after finding her husband deceased. She also told deputies she uses the office but was unaware of the packaged cannabis in the desk drawer.

Deputies also located a barn in the backyard of the residence with 31 cannabis plants growing with artificial light.  In a room next to the barn, 22 plastic bags of processed cannabis with a field weight of 4900 were found.

There were a total of 5 hoods, 40 light bulbs, and 27 ballasts located. There was an electric tap located on the property, which indicated the homeowners were stealing electricity.

A total of 5,475 grams (12.2 lbs) – field weight – of processed cannabis, 5,500 grams (12.2 lbs) – field weight – of cannabis plants and clippings, and 10 guns with ammunition were recovered from the property.

Two minor children were at the residence at the time of the incident and investigation – DCF responded and placed the children in protective services.

Milca Suarez was charged with:

· Manufacture of Cannabis

· Possession of Cannabis over 20 grams

· Possession of Cocaine

· Manufacture Cannabis

· Possession of Structure for Cultivating Cannabis with a Minor Present

· 2 counts Child Abuse/Negligence

· Tampering with Evidence

Milca was booked into the Polk County jail.
