Local law enforcement agencies in Florida said Tuesday they investigated 149 alleged hate crimes in 2010.
A report on those crimes compiled by Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi’s office said nearly half, 46 percent, of those reported crimes involved race as a motivating factor with cases of hate crimes against people based on sexual orientation accounting for 21 percent.
Another 19 percent were crimes involving someone’s religion, and 13 percent involved the victim’s ethnicity or national origin.
