Regional History Center Accepts Florida Hospital History Collection

The Orange County Regional History Center recently accepted the Florida Hospital Oral History Collection as the newest addition to its archives. The collection was completed to commemorate Florida Hospital’s 100th anniversary and includes a series of oral histories capturing the vast history of the organization.

The Florida Hospital Oral History Collection given to the History Center includes recordings and transcripts of more than 90 interviews conducted by StoryCorps, and the book “Florida Hospital: Its Spirit, Its Story,” published by Florida Hospital. The collection is available for research in the Joseph L. Brechner Research Center at the Orange County Regional History Center.

“Through the collaboration between Florida Hospital and the Orange County Regional History Center, the Central Florida community will have access to an important part of history,” said Sy Saliba, Florida Hospital senior vice president of marketing and planning. “Because of our partnership, this collection of stories will be preserved for future generations.”

StoryCorps is an independent nonprofit whose mission is to provide Americans of all backgrounds and beliefs with the opportunity to record, share, and preserve the stories of our lives, and it is one of the largest oral history projects of its kind.
