The recreational harvest of flounder reopens in Florida.




The recreational harvest of flounder in all state and federal waters will reopen December 1st.

recreational flounder FloridaThe minimum size limit for flounder is 14 inches total length and the daily recreational bag limit is five fish per person, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

According to FWC, regulations in Gulf and Atlantic state waters include:

  • Minimum Size Limit: 14″ total length
  • Daily Bag Limit: 5 per person
  • Seasonal Closure: Closed annually from October 15th through November 30th
  • Gear Requirements:
    • Legal Gear: spears, gigs, hook and line, seine, cast net
    • Illegal Gear: harvest prohibited by or with the use of any multiple hook in conjunction with live or dead natural bait; snatching prohibited
