Really? Kissimmee woman in fatal hit and run says she dozed off and stuck a pole

hit-and-runA woman who struck and killed an elderly man on Sunday on south Orange Blossom Trail and continued on her merry way, was arrested today, Florida Highway Patrol said.

Rafael Cotto, 65, of Kissimmee, was left to die on the shoulder of S. Orange Blossom Trail, after he was hit while walking, just after 7:00 a.m.

Giselle Saef Castellano, 27, was driving the 2003 Kia Spectra that struck Cotto, who was found dead a couple hours later.

On Monday, troopers received a tip that a vehicle matching the description and damage, was in an apartment complex on Lighthouse Way in Kissimmee, not far from the scene when the accident occurred.

Castellano told troopers that she drifted off the roadway after dozing off and that she struck a pole.

Castellano was arrested today and charged with leaving the scene of a fatal crash.  She is being booked into the Osceola County Jail.
