Cheryl Callier-Brown said she came out to Tuesday’s town-hall meeting to gain a better understanding of what the health-care reform was truly about.  “I’m not for it and I’m not against it, but I need to understand it,” Brown said. “I retire in four years and I need to know exactly how it’s going to benefit me.”

Callier-Brown and hundreds of others rallied outside City Hall while others packed inside the City Commission chambers.

Nearly 1,000 people arrived at City Hall before the meeting started — some speaking out against reform and others showing support for it.

Sue Gambill stood before the crowd with a poster sign claiming “45 Million Americans Need Health Insurance.” Others held signs reading “Hands Off My Health Care.”

“I’m concerned about the Americans who are uninsured,” Gambill said. “We need to care for the common good — look out for our fellow Americans.”
