Quick Thinking Residents Help Put Out Blaze, No Injuries

Eleven homes were evacuated in Orange County Tuesday afternoon because of a grass fire that was burning nearby.

The fire, which was extinguished with the help of residents, burned up to the fence line of the homes, which are located in the 2600 block of Silver Hills Road in the Pine Hills area.

Several fences near the homes were burned, and residents helped firefighters put the blaze out by pouring buckets of water on the flames.

No one was injured in the fire.  Meanwhile the source of the blaze is being investigated.

There are reports that several children were seen earlier near the open retention pond where it is believed that the fire originated.
