With the onset of Hurricane Season, the Orange County Property Appraiser’s office has developed a web-based citizen reporting feature allowing Orange County residents to report damage of their property, with the ability to upload photos.

“Part of the function of the Property Appraiser is, in the event of a natural or unnatural disaster, to be the first on the ground to define damage and report its impact on values” said Orange County Property Appraiser Rick Singh.

“OCPA continues to leverage technology by being one of the first offices in the nation to use this type of citizen feedback system. Although we never hope to see a natural disaster strike us, we would like to count on active citizen participation to help our community better respond to natural disasters,” he added.

The new feature will save time, allowing OCPA staff to evaluate property damage immediately, giving staff the opportunity to quickly pass along crucial information to other County, State, & Federal agencies involved in relief work.

The feature is available at www.ocpafl.org but is currently hidden from public view. It will be activated as soon as a natural disaster strikes.
