The City of Lakeland will celebrate Drive Electric Earth Day Lakeland, which will include a free public exhibition of electric vehicles. The special event will take place Saturday, April 23rd in downtown Lakeland at Munn Park from 9am-1:00pm.
In an official proclamation declaring Drive Electric Earth Day Lakeland, the city said it is “dedicated to being a leader in the use of clean energy, establishing policies and programs that conserve energy, promote sustainability, and ensure a healthy environment for its citizens.”

Drive Electric Earth Day Lakeland
Whereas, petroleum-fueled vehicles are responsible for about 30% of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions and are a contributing factor to air pollution and climate change, threatening the health of our citizens and the sustainability of our planet; and
Whereas, the transportation sector needs community support to move toward adoption of clean energy technology, including plug-in electric vehicles, that reduces our dependence on foreign fuels and supports a healthy environment and economy; and
Whereas, the automobile industry is responsibly converting to the production of more electric vehicles and phasing out the sole use of internal combustion engines; and
Whereas, the City of Lakeland is dedicated to being a leader in the use of clean energy, establishing policies and programs that conserve energy, promote sustainability, and ensure a healthy environment for its citizens; and
Whereas, during the entire month of April 2022 various National Drive Electric Earth Day celebrations exist throughout the United States to educate our citizens about the benefits of plug-in electric vehicles and promote their adoption; and
Whereas, Saturday, April 23, 2022 has been designated as Drive Electric Earth Day Lakeland, which will include a free public exhibition of electric vehicles, in Downtown Lakeland, Munn Park (9am-1:00pm).
