Presidential Punches Thrown: First Face to Face Fight of 2024 Debate Season

There is one in the record books! The first Presidential Debate held in Atlanta, Georgia on Thursday June 27th between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump.

Recently, the ability to lead the country into four more years has become a bigger concern for some since Joe Biden announced he would run for re-election. Meanwhile, former President Trump has continued a media frenzy with his criminal charges and courtroom proceedings.

In this first round bout of the 2024 debate season, Biden came out pretty docile. His abilities to enunciate the ideas that he has were less than the former scrappy Joe from Scranton. One viewer poll showed that Trump won the debate by 67% percent.

West Orlando News was privy to firsthand attendance to the debate held in Atlanta, Georgia. The buzz among media colleagues was less than fully excited for the current President’s performance.

The ages of the candidates have been discussed frequently, although the energy levels have been also leaning towards Trump. Biden held his own as he insulted the character of a married man having relations with a porn star. As well as the fact former President Trump was now a 34 count convicted felon. Biden stated the fact that Trump had the largest national debt; however, the facts and figures were stumbled through which in some ways lessened the punch.

Trump threw criminality back on Biden, insinuating Biden and mentioning he could be a criminal upon leaving office. He also added that the lack of respect Biden’s administration has garnered could be compared to a third world country. He mentioned his tax cuts to the wealthy opened up more jobs and his tariffs would force other countries to pay more to the U.S.

Biden, when discussing abortion rights for women, emphasized that it should be a federal mandate of giving women the opportunity to choose and Trump expressed the power should be possessed by the states.

Also in the building was Democratic California Governor Gavin Newsom, who was swarmed by the press as to why he is not the candidate for the party. He spoke confidently and encouraged further support of President Biden, meanwhile, he stood firm with a smile that it’s not currently his turn. The conversation of Joe Biden stepping down is far fetched according to some, while others think it’s a possibility to happen at the DNC.

West Orlando news spotted a few of Trump’s potential running mates who were on site last night including: Florida’s own Senator Marco Rubio, North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, South Carolina Senator Tim Scott, and Florida Representative Byron Donalds who captivated the spin room floor as a one of Trump’s surrogates. Whomever Trump chooses, VP Kamala Harris will be ready as she is a dynamic debater.

Overall, this is just the beginning of what is to be a close call rematch as voter support was not clearly affected after this first debate of more to come.
