Pres. Barack Obama Parkway Extension Pre-Construction Open House Scheduled

The City of Orlando, in coordination with URS Corporation, will host a Pre-Construction Public Open House for the Pres Barack Obama Parkway Extension project. The City Project Team and the Contractor, Hubbard Construction Company, will be available to discuss the project and the upcoming Phase One construction that is expected to start this summer.    Phase One construction consists of extending the existing 4-lane divided segment of Pres Barack Obama Parkway 1.1 miles, from just north of Conroy Road to its future intersection with the 0.4 mile extension of Metrowest Boulevard, which is also part of the project.

This project also includes:

  • A 0.2 mile extension of the Shingle Creek Trail along Conroy Road.
  • A parallel multi-use (bicycles and pedestrians) facility that will be constructed to help provide a future link between the proposed Shingle Creek and Pine Hills Trails.
  • Stormwater Treatment Ponds
  • Lighting
  • Landscaping
  • Onstreet Bike Lanes
  • Sidewalks
  • A new signalized intersection at LB McLeod Road

The Open House will include a brief project overview presentation at 5:30 p.m. and again at 7:00 p.m. and an opportunity for citizens to ask questions about the upcoming improvement project.
