A pregnant woman driving drunk, struck and killed an Orlando motorcyclist early on Sunday morning on John Young Parkway near Oak Ridge Road.
27-year-old Yetta Maritza Ospina, of Orlando, was arrested and charged with DUI manslaughter after she hit 25-year-old Peter Vergari, troopers said.
Ospina was traveling northbound on John Young Park behind Vergari who was riding a Honda motorcycle. She was traveling faster than Vergari and failed to slow down while approaching the motorcycle, troopers said.
Ospina, who was driving a 2011 Toyota, collided with the rear of the motorcycle causing it to overturn throwing Vergari in the inside lane of northbound State Road 423.
Vergari wasn’t wearing a helmet. Â He was pronounced dead on the spot by the medical examiner, troopers also said.
Ospina was arrested and charged with DUI manslaughter and booked into the Orange County Jail on a $10,000 bond. She has also been charged with vehicular homicide of a viable fetus and is being held on a $5,000 bond.
i knew pete… great guy… what a terrible very much preventable tragedy. i hope she burns in hell and spends many years in prison!
Pete was an amazing guy and he did not deserve this! He had so much he wanted to do still! So many dreams and aspirations! He was always the one to go to if you needed to smile! All taken away by one persons stupidity! We lost another great guy! she deserves everything and anything coming to her in her future plus some! RIP Lucky! You’ll be missed!
You never know what brought someone to that point where this happened. I am sure both families are grieving and you should never wish ill on someone. Especially thinking that at one point someone may have thought the same to either of those people. Life is short, embrace it.

Pete was one of my best friends. Helped me when things seemed impossible and put a huge smile on my face when I was faithless. He had the biggest heart of ANYONE I know. Lived life, Loved, and would be the first to give the shirt off his back to help someone out. I love him so much, and Im gunna miss him like no tomorrow. Vergari family is in my prayers. Wow…. Pregnant and drinking not only was she not caring about her childs life she had no concern for a innocent man.. Godbless on both familys. And yes she deserves to be punished but God is the only one who can decide about her death so no should wish badness on another but rather pray for her.. If god can forgive so can someone else but that surly does not take away that fact she has to be punished for her actions.
She has no right to live after what she has done. I have known lucky since I was a teen and he saved me from being killed by my ex husband. She has no consideration for life including her unborn child! She deserves the death pently but that won’t bring Pete back. Actually she deserves life in prision to think about the lives that she took and what they will be missing out on. He was going to be the godfather to my unborn baby.

Well just read she received a year in prison!!! Unbelievable….lets see she makes the choice to get drunk while shes pregnant & kills another human being & from what I read her child…nice legal system we have here!!! And someone posts shes pursing a RN degree sooo only good thing is that will never happen with this on her record. My prayers are with the Vergari family & friends at the loss of this young man! Accidents happen. I have known Yetta a long time and she has a great heart. She didn’t mean to hurt anyone. It could happen to any of us. You don’t know what people are going through. Don’t be so hard on people without knowing.
