Poll: Obama, Romney Neck-and-Neck in Florida

President Barack Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney are essentially tied in Florida, a new Tampa Bay Times/Miami Herald/Bay News 9 poll has found.

The poll of likely voters finds 48 percent supporting the president’s re-election, 47 percent for Romney – well within the margin of error of 3.5 percentage points. Only 4 percent are undecided and 1 percent say they’ll vote for Libertarian Gary Johnson.

The poll finds voters saying pretty much the same thing they said in July, when Obama was ahead by the same amount in the same poll.

Obama has picked up a few more independent voters, according to the survey of 800 Florida voters likely to vote in November. It was conducted for the news organizations by Mason Dixon Polling between Sept. 17 and Sept. 19.
