A woman who police say, left her 5-year-old son in a car as she drank at a nearby bar, was arrested over the week-end.
22-year-old Mallory Mims is accused of leaving her toddler alone as she knocked back shots at the Pirana Bar and Grille on US 1, wesh.com reports.
A concerned customer observed the child in the car with the engine running and called police.
Mims tried to leave the bar before police arrived, but another customer grabbed her keys until officers got to the location.
She told police she was filling out a job application.
Mims was charged with child neglect and leaving a child unattended in a vehicle for more than 15 minutes. She was booked into the Volusia County Jail on Saturday, but has since bonded out.
