A woman who told investigators that she suffers from bi-polar disorder, was taken into custody early this morning, accused of attempted murder of her roommate, Orlando police say.
Shameca Brewster, 36, who lives in the 5200 block of Cinderland Parkway, told investigators she got into an altercation with her roommate, after he urinated in the apartment. According to the arrest affidavit, Brewster said, her roommate “rushed toward her in an aggressive manner and she used her leg to sweep his legs under him, as well as used her right hand in a closed fist to strike him in the face.”
Investigators learned from doctors at the Orlando Regional Medical Center that the victim, suffered two perforations to his chest and heart, consistent with wounds caused by a gunshot or sharp weapon. Doctors also informed investigators that the man had multiple fractures and metallic fragments in his body and is unlikely to survive.
Brewster when questioned further by police also said that she suffers from bi-polar disorder and is known to black out and not remember what has transpired. She express regret for the victim’s injuries, if she did cause them although she does not remember inflicting them, she told investigators. She also said that she and the unnamed man were drinking beer prior to the altercation.
Brewster is being held without bond due to the severity of the charges and the likelihood that the victim would not survive, police said.
