Police Suspect Foul Play in Firefighter’s Disappearance

Bangor Maine police now say they believe that missing Seminole County firefighter Jerry Perdomo’s disappearance is due to foul play.

On Monday, during a press conference, police named 24-year-old Daniel Porter as a “person of interest” in the case.

Last week, investigators interviewed Porter and his 23-year-old girlfriend, Cheyanne Nowak, who they believe last saw Perdomo before he disappeared. Nowak has not been named a person of interest.

According to news reports, Maine detectives searched a home belonging to Porter’s father in Jackson, Maine, where Perdomo was reportedly last seen.

Perdomo, 31, of Orange City, has been missing since February 16, after driving a rental car to Bangor, Maine, to visit a friend. The car was found abandoned in the Walmart parking lot on Stillwater Avenue in Bangor on February 17.

Tanya Perdomo, the wife of the missing fireman, also held a press conference Monday.

“My understanding is he was going to help someone…. and that’s the kind of person he is,” Tanya said. It would not have been unusual for him to help someone move, she added.

Tanya said she spoke with her husband on Thursday night (February 16) for about a minute or so and that they had a normal conversation. He told me that he loved me, to hug and kiss the kids and that he would call me later. She said she never heard from him again.

“It’s been really difficult, but I just want him to come home… I just miss him; the kids miss him,” she said.

When asked about a woman named “Lisa” who tole WESH that Perdomo had been staying with her up until the night of February 16, when he disappeared, Tanya said she knew her husband had a friend and that he has female friends. But she insisted that her husband is a family man – a great father, husband and son.

“He is a family man; he has two kids that he loves, and me,” she said. “He has a job that he loves… he helps everyone.” She said she didn’t know Porter or Nowak.

Tanya Perdomo added, she “still forsees him coming home… and I hope that this happens.” She said she was speaking out to let everyone know that “we are still looking for him.”

Last week, Tanya flew to Bangor, Maine to join in the search for her missing husband.

“It was hard coming back without him,” she said.
