A man who shot and killed another man early this morning, following an altercation has been arrested, St. Cloud police said.
29-year-old Jose Dolores Montes-Rodriguez was apprehended as he walked in the area of U.S. 192 and Simpson Road, police also said.
Montes-Rodriguez is accused of shooting and killing 28-year-old Cesar Francisco Rodriguez early on Sunday morning, after the two got into an altercation at a residence on 1400 Indiana Avenue in St. Cloud.
Witnesses told police there were about 5 people drinking and partying on the porch of the home, when two individuals got into an argument. Shots were fired and witnesses and suspect Montes-Rodriguez fled the scene.
Believing that the suspect had gone to his residence in the 1600 block of Illinois Avenue, SWAT team officers were called to this address. After several attempts to get the suspect to surrender, entry was made into the residence but the suspect was nowhere to be found. Detectives later spotted Montes-Rodriguez walking along State Road 500 or U.S. 192 and took him into custody.
Police say, Montes-Rodriguez, upon being interviewed, offered a full confession to the killing of Cesar Rodriguez.
Montes-Rodriguez has been charged with first degree murder and booked into the Osceola County Jail.
