A 13-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle on Friday morning while standing at a bus stop in Sanford, police said.
The driver of a Ford utility vehicle, 22-year-old Robert V. Dubois struck Liang Chen, 13, while attempting a U-turn at the intersection of Sterling Pine Street and Groveview Way, police said. Chen was standing at his bus stop at the intersection.
Chen was taken to a local area hospital with a broken leg.
Dubois told police that he did not see the pedestrian as dew had formed on his windshield and windows. He was issued a traffic citation for careless driving.
The accident occurred just before 6:30 a.m. on Friday.
