An Orlando passenger was killed and two other persons are hospitalized, after a Honda Civic crashed into a utility pole on East Colonial Drive, on Monday morning.
The crash occurred around 3:00 a.m., in front of the Best Buy near Bennett Road on State Road 50.
Orlando police said, 25-year-old Daniel Guerro, the driver of the Honda, lost control and struck the utility.
Police believe Guerro might have been street racing when he crashed into the pole.
A witness told police he was driving east on Colonial Drive when he saw a Honda Accord “quickly change lanes” and passed him at “a high rate of speed.” Then, he looked in his rear view mirror and saw a second vehicle, the Honda Civic, “loose control and crash into the utility pole.”
26-year-old Raul Vega, of Groveland, who was in the front passenger seat of the Honda Civic, along with Guerro, suffered serious injuries. Both were transported to the Orlando Regional Medical Center.
Manuel Faria-Vazquez, 28, sitting in the back seat was ejected from the vehicle. He died later from his injuries.
Orlando Police Traffic Homicide Unit is continuing to investigate the crash.
