A Winter Haven mother has been arrested for leaving her two small children alone in an apartment for about three hours on Tuesday.
26-year-old Tasheda Flye was arrested on charges of child neglect for leaving the children alone and also charged with disorderly conduct and criminal mischief when she kicked out a back passenger window of the police car.
Around 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 12, the apartment manager of Palm Place Apartments at 2401 2nd St., NW, was made aware of the possibility of two children alone in an apartment. She went to the apartment finding the two young kids, ages 1 and 3. She took the children to the office and starting calling the contact numbers on the emergency information card.
Police said, Flye was contacted by phone at approximately 11:30 a.m. and told by the management that she needed to come back to get her children.
Flye did not arrive back at the office until 1:30 p.m. where she was arrested and taken into custody by Winter Haven Police.
