A 12-year-old boy was arrested Monday, after police found two guns, one fully loaded, in his backpack.
Police say, the School Resource Officer at Glenridge Middle School, located at 2900 Upper Park Road, received tips that a student had a gun at school.
Officers were called around noon and found in the boy’s backpack, two guns. One gun, a Mack10 was fully loaded; the other a .380 handgun was also located in the boy’s backpack. Police say, the handgun may not be functional.
Investigators say, the 12-year-old, 7th grader has no previous issues or criminal activity and had no intention of harming anyone.
The boy was taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center on the charge of possession of a firearm on school property.
West Orlando News is not identifying the underage boy.
The investigation is ongoing.
