Police are searching for an armed masked suspect who robbed a convenience store and shot a clerk twice on Monday night.
Just before 11:00 p.m., on Monday, the suspect entered the Friends Food Mart at 518 S. Martin Luther King Boulevard, displayed a black revolver and demanded money.
The clerk grabbed the suspect’s gun and a struggle ensued, police said. The suspect fired three shots, two striking the clerk in the hand and knee.
The suspect fled the store after the clerk handed over about $1,600. The suspect was wearing a black mask with red teeth, which fell off during the struggle with the clerk.
Police believe that there might be a second suspect.
Video shows a man, likely the second suspect, standing near the door and watching the entire altercation. He is also seen on video just outside the door, looking back as the shooter is putting on his mask. Once the shooter has the mask on, the second suspect turns and enters the business, followed by the shooter.
