Police: Man Discharges Firearm at Neighbor Arrested

An Orlando man has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault for firing ammunition at his neighbor, after the two fought over a parked vehicle at the residence they shared, Orlando Police said.

Bobby G. Newton

Orlando Police officers said that Bobby G. Newton, 38 years, of 833 Short Avenue, Orlando, was arrested around 7:00 pm, on August 30, for firing ammunition after he fought with his neighbor, Damarius Taylor.

Police officers learned that Taylor’s girlfriend, Tina Harrison, who was visiting him at Short Avenue had parked her vehicle diagonally in the yard, and Newton got upset as it apparently prevented him from parking his own truck.

Police learned that Newton, after honking his horn, then went upstairs of the residence where Taylor lived.  Both men got into an argument and were fighting on the ground.  Newton then went back down to his vehicle and took out a firearm from the trunk of his car and according to Taylor, he “discharged 2 rounds at him”.

Newton told police he was in fear for his life as Taylor kept charging at him and he (Taylor) is bigger than he (Newton) is. He told police that, Harrison tried to throw hot grease on him and a radio while he walked into his residence.

Detectives say there was no substantial difference in terms of height and weight between Newton and Taylor.

Police officers found probably to arrest and charge Newton.   He was taken to the Orange County Jail.  Bond was set at $2,500 for the aggravated assault charge and $100 for discharging a firearm.
