A man who sexually assaulted a woman on July 2nd and then cut her throat with a knife, in the apartment complexes on Millenia Boulevard has been arrested. The same man had last month, attempted to sexually assault and kill another woman at an apartment pool area in the 5200 block of Millenia Boulevard, close to where the most recent attack took place, police said.
The suspect has been identified as Fernandito Carpio, 22-years old.
Police say that on June 13, the suspect, Carpio, attempted to sexually assualt a 34-year-old Hispanic woman as she left the pool area in the 5300 block of Millenia to use the restroom. She was attacked when she opened the stall door, police said. The woman was able to fight off the suspect, who fled the scene.
The most recent attack occurred on July 2nd around 3:00 pm, when Carpio attacked another victim as she entered her apartment at the 5200 block of Millenia Blvd.
The apartments complexes where both attacks took place are across the street from each other.
The victim of the second attack told police that the suspect, Carpio, raped her before he cut her throat with a sharp object. The woman was able to escape out of the rear of the apartment. The 24-year-old woman was transported to a local hospital for treatment and police say is currently recuperating at an undisclosed location.
Orlando Police while investigating and canvassing the area in the attempted homicide of July 2nd, received a tip about a possible suspect.
The woman who was attacked on June 13, was able to identify Carpio as her attacker. The second victim also was able to identify Carpio.
Police have charged Carpio with attempted murder, attempted sexual battery, home invasion, robbery and armed sexual battery.
Carpio is currently in the Orange County Jail, without bond.
