Orlando police have released the name of the suspected shooter in the murder-suicide which claimed the life of a Florida Hospital doctor.
Police believe that 53-year-old Nelson Flecha shot and killed 41-year-old Dr. Dmitriy A. Nikitin, in the parking garage near the Florida Hospital on Thursday, then took his own life.
Police said that Flecha and Nikitin did have a patient-doctor relationship, as family members have confirmed. But, police are still trying to determine the motive for the murder.
Dr. Nikitin was a multi-organ abdominal transplant surgeon at the Hospital.
Orlando police said that Flecha appeared not to have any prior criminal history.
Dr. Nikitin was shot in the McCray Parking Garage adjacent to the Florida Hospital just after 5:00 pm, yesterday. Flecha then turned the gun on himself. Both men were rushed to the Orlando Regional Medical Center where they subsequently died.
