Police arrested a dog owner who they say, intentionally allowed his Dachshund to attack a Lake Eola Park swan.
51-year-old Lawrence Labonte was taken into custody over the week-end in Seminole County, Orlando police said.
Labonte has been charged with cruelty to animals and fighting or baiting animals.
A witness told a park ranger that around 4:00 p.m., on Sunday, March 3, she saw an unknown white male, later identified as Labonte, release his Dachshund from its leash and allowed a male swan to be attacked by the dog.
The swan was so badly injured that it had to be euthanized. The loss of the swan is estimated at $500.
