Orlando police are searching for a man impersonating a child protective service investigator with the Department of Children and Families (DCF) and tried to take custody of a child.
Investigators say, the man went to the Summerfield Apartments in the 4500 block of south Kirkman Road on Tuesday around 1:30 p.m. The man told the resident that he is a DCF employee and had come to take custody of their 1-year-old granddaughter.
The man is described as a white male, in his mid-to-late 30’s, approximately 5’9″ tall, with a clean cut hairstyle. He was last seen wearing a blue polot shirt and slacks.
Investigators also say, the man was wearing a gold badge around his neck. The resident told investigators he believed the badge had the words “Department of Children and Families” inscribed on it, along with a State of Florida seal in the center.
OPD is working to release a composite sketch of the man.
