A husband and wife, accused of dealing in counterfeit goods at the Magic Mall Outlet on west Colonial Drive, were arrested on Thursday, Orlando police said.
47-year-old Xiaolin Ma and his 44-year-old wife, Xiao Qu, of Windermere, have been charged with purchasing and selling counterfeit goods, estimated to have a retail value of $6-8 million.
Police said, Qu and Ma were found with several thousand counterfeit purses and bags, under the trademark Gucci, Chanel, Dooney & Bourke and Coach, among other brand names. Cops also said that shoes, belts, scarves, sunglasses and perfumes were in the couple’s outlet store, Lucky Gift Shop, at the Magic Mall.
With information from two sources, investigators placed the couple’s store under surveillance last December. Informants told investigators they would purchase the counterfeit items for about $15 a handbag from the couple and re-sell the goods for $40 each.
Police said that neither of the two informats was arrested.
Ma and Qu were arrested yesterday, each on $2,500 dollar bond.
