Eustis Police officers have arrested eight persons after a traffic stop led them to a meth lab in several stages of operation early on Wednesday morning.
According to detectives, in conducting a stop for a traffic violation early on Wednesday morning, a K-9 which was brought to the scene confirmed the presence of a narcotics odor in the vehicle. Detectives say that further investigation revealed meth manufacturing components in the vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle, Joey Brent Sands, 26 years, and passengers, Justin C. Elosage, 25 and Heather L. Herman, 35 years, during interviews with police provided information on the operation of a meth lab at 2811 Ruleme Street, #604, in Eustis.
Detectives obtained a search warrant on the apartment, where they found five persons and a meth lab in several stages of operation.
The names of the persons are:
- Micheal Allen Widle, W/M, 43 years
- Melissa Noel Adler W/F, 22 years
- Lacey Cecilla Samuels W/F, 19 years
Detectives said that the three show their address at the location of the meth lab location on Ruleme Street.
Also found at the apartment were Robert Joseph Benoit, a white male, 48 years, of 8817 ½ Rockingham Ave. in Tavares. Shelley Lee Ashton , a white female, 18 years, of 43636 Bear Lake Road of Deland was also found at the apartment.
Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies trained in meth lab investigation made the scene safe along with assistance from the Lake County Fire Hasmat Team. A trafficking amount of methaphetamine was seized.
Eustis Police Drug investigators are continuing to investigate this case.
Charges on the 8 persons range from Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Manufacturing Methamphetamine and Possession/Trafficking of Methamphetamine, police said.
