An 11-year-old child was struck while walking to school near Ridgewood Avenue, north of Seminole High School around 6:40 a.m., officials said.
Sanford Police said, the child was hit by Sharon Smith, of Oviedo, who was driving a silver 2009 BMW.
The child was taken to Arnold Palmer Hospital and is in critical, but stable condition, but police said.
Police said that, at this point, no charged have been filed against Smith, as the child was crossing in the middle of the intersection at 25th Street at Ridgewooe Avenue, and not using the crosswalk.
The boy attends Journey’s Academy.
