Polanski who pled guilty to having sex with a minor, some 30 years ago in the United States, fled the country and has since been living abroad.

The 76-year-old Oscar winner was arrested some two months ago and jailed in Switzerland.  The expectation was that he would have been extradited to the U.S. to face charges.

Now, it appears that a deal was struck with the Swiss authorities and Polanski was released on $4.5 million dollars bail.

Polanski is expected to head to his luxury Alpine chalet on Friday, as officials continue to deliberate whether to extradite him to the United States.  According to the conditions of his release, Polanski must stay in the house and will wear an electronic bracelet.
