Former Rep. Eric Eisnaugle, R-Orlando, stepped aside from the Legislature in 2012 after reapportionment put him in the same district as fellow Republican Steve Precourt.
Meanwhile, former Rep. Scott Plakon, R-Longwood, ran in a substantially changed district and lost to Democrat Karen Castor Dentel. But House leaders are already gearing up to try to bring Eisnaugle and Plakon back to the Legislature in 2014.
Speaker Will Weatherford, R-Wesley Chapel, and the next three Republicans slated to become speaker will hold a fund-raiser Tuesday at the Governor’s Club for Eisnaugle and Plakon, according to an invitation posted online by Saint Petersblog.
With Precourt facing term limits in 2014, Eisnaugle plans to run in District 44. Plakon plans to run in District 29, against Rep. Mike Clelland, a Lake Mary Democrat who toppled Republican incumbent Chris Dorworth in 2012.
