Pine Hills Community to hold Traffic Cabinet Art Program Meeting

The Orange County Board of County Commissioners recently initiated a traffic signal cabinet art program. The program, called St.art Something, will give neighborhood organizations and businesses the opportunity to decorate a cabinet with paint or vinyl wrap using an artist. Decorating traffic boxes will enhance the pedestrian and driving experience by incorporating artwork directly into the streetscape.

Before neighborhood organizations and businesses can adopt cabinets, a decision must be made on a design theme that will be incorporated into each painting or vinyl wrap. Orange County Neighborhood Preservation & Revitalization Division (NPRD), along with Arts and Cultural Affairs, will work with you and other neighborhood leaders to come up with a design theme. A theme can showcase a community’s identity, strengthen community pride, and connect people with their surroundings.

Once the design theme has been established cabinets can then be adopted by a neighborhood organization or business who will then seek an artist to develop a rendering for each cabinet. We will also decide on 3 to 5 individuals from the community to be on the design committee to review the artists’ applications.
