History will be made again in the city of Orlando, Florida, at the beautiful Crown Plaza Universal Resort, 7800 Universal Blvd., on Sunday, April 28, 2013, at 5:30 p.m., as Pam Powell and the P-Factors present Orlando’s “2nd Annual Living Legends Awards Gala”, where selected individuals from the African American community will be honored who have positively impacted the lives of so many here in Central Florida. This grand event will showcase the many accomplishments and the profound leadership that these honorees have provided to this community. They will be presented their very own “Oscar” awards, however it will not be for acting, but for the dedicated service they have provided to so many. They will stroll the “Red Carpet”, which represents the journey of a truly celebrated, “Living Legend”. Reverend Pam Powell says, “As I reflected upon some of America ‘s greatest heroes who were never recognized in their lifetime, God inspired me with the affirmation that this is the time and the season that we should allow our leaders to smell their roses, now”. Many of which, Rev. Powell stated, “…served as role models and mentors to her throughout her lifetime. ” Despite their many struggles, these leaders have succeeded against the odds.
Honorees include: Pastor Dr. Randolph & Dr. Lavon Bracy, Pastor Dr. Larry G. Mills, Dr. Ann Ashley-Gilbert, Dr. Phil St. Louis, Commissioner Tiffany Moore, Maurice Starr (“The General”), Jo Jo (“Dancer”) Oneal, Lester & Lillian Seays, Von Thompson, Gwen Bennett, Jack Williams, Jr., Gene Grace, Keesha Rivers, Bridgett Norvell, Dr. Denise Mose, Jabari Jackson and others.
Last year’s Living Legends Inaugural Awards received rave reviews with a standing room only crowd. Community leaders, business owners and residents are preparing to walk the “Red Carpet”, where Hollywood Meets Orlando, “in a Black Tie Affair” with a vintage Hollywood theme. The celebration of these living legends will be uniquely presented. Entertainment will include: Co-host the fabulous, “Ms. B”, of 94.5; Songtress, “Ovachi”; Gospel Artists, Kenneth Brown, Slyvia Howard and Cynthia Cassanova: with special dance tributes and a special appearance of Orlando’s renowed comedian, “Ms. Ruby”. Orlando’s leading gospel radio station, WOKB, 1680 Urban Empowerment network has partnered to sponsor this gala. This black tie affair is being planned in such a way that all who attend will feel like the “Oscars” have finally arrived in the City Beautiful.
This awards ceremony is being hosted by Rev. Pam Powell and “The P-Factors” and has become an annual event that will grow nationally, emanating its own, “Wall of Fame”. Rev. Powell says “I just can’t wait to say, The envelope please, as you may become the very next legend.” Powell’s, “Living Legends Awards”, is the legacy she plans to leave as an inspiration for posterity. She has always been one to empower others, as she very emphatically believes in the principle of pushing others up.
