The Florida Lottery recently announced that Lina Johnson, of Palm Beach Gardens, claimed a $1 million prize from the 500X THE CASH scratch-off game.
The Palm Beach County woman chose to receive her winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $640,000.
Johnson purchased her winning ticket from Stop Wise, located at 9762 Gardens East Drive in Palm Beach Gardens. The retailer received a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning scratch-off ticket.
She claimed her winning prize at the Lottery’s West Palm Beach District Office.
The $50 scratch-off game, 500X THE CASH, features over 10 million winning tickets, with a top prize of $25 million. This ticket offers more than $1.66 billion in total cash prizes.
The game’s overall odds of winning are 1-in-4.23.
Scratch-off games are an important part of the Lottery’s portfolio of games, comprising approximately 74 percent of ticket sales in fiscal year 2023-2024. Additionally, since inception, scratch-off games have awarded more than $63.1 billion in prizes, created 2,175 millionaires, and generated more than $19.24 billion for the state’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF).
The Florida Lottery is responsible for contributing more than $47 billion to enhance education and sending more than 983,000 students to college through the Bright Futures Scholarship Program. The Florida Lottery reinvests 99 percent of its revenue into Florida’s economy through prize payouts, commissions to more than 13,600 Lottery retailers, and transfers to education. Since 1988, Florida Lottery games have paid more than $95.7 billion in prizes and made more than 4,000 people millionaires.
