A 5-month-old baby boy, one of three children attacked by Jessica Lacey McCarthy, a Palm Bay mother, has died.
McCarty,33, initially faced two counts of murder in the deaths of her young children, Laci McCarty, 7, and Philip McCarty, 6.
Now, Christopher Swist, her five-month-old baby, has died, Palm Bay police confirmed.
Local 6 reports that Christopher had been on life support all weekend after he was found by his father Friday afternoon, with a cord wrapped around his neck.
Officers went to McCarty’s home on Kenmore Street Northwest, after receiving an emergency call from a woman who claimed to have killed her children.
Reportedly, McCarty had texted pictures of the bloody scene to Christopher’s father, who had also placed a call to 911.
When police arrived, McCarty was in the front of her house, wielding a butcher knife. Ignoring commands to drop the knife, officers deployed several beanbag rounds to gain compliance.
Laci and Philip were pronounced dead at a local area hospital on Friday.
On Monday, police confirmed that Christopher, who was on life support all weekend, had passed away.
McCarty, who had a first court appearance Sunday, waived her right to appear. Charges are expected to be upgraded to three counts of murder now that Christopher has died.
McCarty is being held without bond at the Brevard County Jail.
