The Eastern Conference Finals begins tonight, so lets break down the key match ups.
Physicality- The Pacers are known for their physical style of play. If they have any chance to win this series they will need to make LeBron James and the Miami Heat earn each and every basket.
Post Play- Indiana Pacers Center Roy Hibbert could decide this series. His match up with Miami’s Chris Bosh gives the Pacers a slight edge with interior size. Winning disguises a lot, with that being said the Heat aren’t a strong rebounding and post scoring team. If the Pacers can utilize Hibbert and David West it will limit Miami’s transition game.
Paul George vs LeBron James- Pacers’ George was asked to check Carmelo Anthony in the second round and did a fantastic job. Now? Just asked to guard the best player in the world while needing to score 15-18 points per game. Not an impossible task but one that will require few mistakes and a ton of help.
Backcourt play- With Dwayne Wade’s knee giving him issues, George Hill could take advantage. Mario Chalmers will struggle with Hill’s length and speed while Norris Cole may give Hill issues with his unique ability to score and hit deep shots.
Last season the Miami beat the Pacers in 6, that’s what I believe will happen again this year. Indiana is very confident in their chances but will find out soon why this Heat team is favored to win it all again.
Tip off for game one is tonight at 8:30 on TNT.
