Over 1,000 Volunteers to Participate in United Way Days of Caring

 

United Way Days of Caring 2012 will see more than 1,000 corporate volunteers from more than 49 local businesses and organization will roll up their sleeves to work on nearly 58 projects at 24 local nonprofit agencies throughout the tri-county area on Friday, September 28th.  

Organized by Heart of Florida United Way, Days of Caring connects businesses, organizations and groups with volunteer opportunities to help those in need in the community.  This hands-on volunteer day offers a range of projects with United Way partner agencies in Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties.  Projects include reading to children, repairing homes, building playgrounds and many other rewarding opportunities that make a difference.

Days of Caring 2012 is sponsored by WFTV 9 Family Connection.

Below are volunteer locations in the Orlando area:

Edgewood Children’s Ranch
1451 Edgewood Ranch Road, Orlando, FL 32835
Volunteer Time: 7 – 8 a.m.
Approximately 15 volunteers from BJ’s Wholesale Club will provide, prepare, and serve a meal for students.

Volunteer Time: 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Approximately 15 volunteers from Publix will provide, prepare, and serve a meal for students.

After School Programs
Fuangus Elementary, 380 Killington Way, Orlando, FL 32835
Volunteer Time: 4 – 5 p.m.
Approximately 2 volunteers with Florida Hospital will read their favorite children’s books to 80 wonderful children. Volunteers will share why the book is so special to them and be ready to answer tons of questions from the students.
