OUC to Lower Rates

The OUC Board voted today to reduce its fuel charge rate by 11 percent and lower electric rates for all OUC customers.

Lower natural gas costs have enabled OUC to reduce its fuel charge rate, which in conjunction with the base energy charge comprise the electric consumption charge on a customer’s monthly statement.

Residential and small commercial customers can expect to see about a 4 percent reduction in their overall electric bill. Mid to large commercial customers will see a decrease between 4.5 to 5.3 percent.

The average residential customer using 1,000 kilowatt hours will see a savings of $4.82 a month.

The new rates will take effect March 1, 2012, pending review by the Florida Public Service Commission.
