OUC provided a Hurricane Milton update on power restoration after the storm delivered heavy rain, high winds and some flooding to Central Florida, resulting in 88,557 Orlando customers losing power.
As of noon on October 10th, OUC had 78,992 customers without power due to Hurricane Milton. Later in the day, OUC reported 49,388 power outages, adding that 45% have been restored.
OUC safety assessors and crews were in the field to survey the storm’s impact and are making repairs.
Estimated times of restoration will not be available for at least 48 hours. The local utility company is diligently working on restoring power, according to an updated provided on local efforts.
“Our power restoration teams will focus on restoring power first for critical services, such as hospitals, wastewater plants, fire and police stations, and other emergency locations,” OUC wrote to customers. “Then, repairs will be made to restore power to the most customers in the most efficient manner.”
As OUC continues Hurricane Milton power restoration efforts in Orlando, customers can report outages by texting OUT to 69682, calling 407-423-9018 or emailing OUC. As a reminder, you only need to report your outage once. To learn how OUC restores power, please use this video: How does OUC Restore Power? (youtube.com)
“Our customer service remains limited for storm support and we will not disconnect power due to nonpayment,” OUC added.
OUC also reminded Orlando residents to remember to keep safety top of mind. You should consider all lines – as well as trees, limbs and anything else that could encounter power lines – as energized and dangerous. Flooding creates a unique and dangerous restoration environment, as floodwaters can be energized by downed powerlines or other electrical equipment.
