Orlando’s Homeless Vets get Fed Monies to Help Pay for Housing

Orlando is one of 11 Florida cities that will get cash from the federal government to provide housing for homeless veterans.

According to the Department of Children and Families Secretary, David Wilkins, the communities will get a total of $3.8 million from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Department of Veterans Affairs.

A second round of awards is expected later this summer.

The monies come in the form of rental assistance vouchers for individual veterans.

Tampa is getting the most, followed by Orlando and Miami-Dade County.
