Thousands of Floridians are expected to participate in Awake the State rallies all across the state on January 10, fighting back against Gov. Rick Scott and his extreme allies’ assault on the middle class, public schools, health care, voting rights, civil rights and more.

With a single message in mind, “Floridians need more, demand more and we’re watching your every move!” at least 20 rallies will be held statewide, from Miami in the south, to Pensacola in the north west, on the first day of the legislative session.  Rallies will be held in Sarasota, Tallahassee, Pinellas, Tampa and Brevard, among other cities and counties.

In Orlando, The Awake The State rally will be held at the Progressive Center, 134 East Colonial Drive, beginning at 4:00 p.m. The Rally will open with a short speaking forum, followed by sign waving at the intersection of Orange Avenue and Colonial Drive.

Organizers said, signs will be available, but you could also bring your own message. Participants are also encouraged to bring glow sticks, reflective tape, and anything that will glow in the dark!

Last year, Floridians made history with the first ever Awake the State rallies, mobilizing over 15,000 people to stand together against damaging budget cuts and bad policy.  Thousands woke out of their social slumber and said “Enough is enough. We demand more!”.
