A broad coalition of Orlando area workers from a wide variety of trades and professions, including health care workers, will be joined by students, retirees and community advocates in a rally outside of Senator Bill Nelson’s office to encourage him to continue his excellent leadership on the critical issue of healthcare reform.
A delegation from the coalition will meet with Senator Nelson’s staff to discuss the importance of including a choice for a strong public health insurance option. The delegation will also deliver hundreds of stories from Floridians about their struggles with the current healthcare system to illustrate the need for immediate reform. The rally will continue while the delegation meets with Senator Nelson’s staff and end after the delegation reports out the outcomes of the meeting.
This event has been scheduled the day before a so-called “Tea Party” protest by people representing the small minority of Floridians who want to keep their neighbors victimized by the current healthcare system and deny them the reform they deserve.
WHAT: Rally for meaningful healthcare reform and the right for Floridians to choose a strong public health insurance option
WHO: Orlando area workers from many areas including health care, construction trades, communications, entertainment, retail and the public sector; retirees and students.
WHEN: 2:00 PM TODAY, July 1, 2009
WHERE: Senator Bill Nelson’s Office, 225 East Robinson Street, Ste 410, Orlando
This is an excellent opportunity for members of the media to talk with real mainstream Floridians who understand that health care reform is absolutely essential if our nation’s economy is to recover and thrive and who want the choice of a good public health insurance option.
