The city of Orlando will close a projected budget gap of $12 million in next year’s budget, while maintaining the same level of service, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer told the City Council on Monday.
Dyer said the budget short fall will be closed by utilizing unspent monies that were budgeted over the past two years and by cutting departmental budgets for the upcoming year.
Orlando revenues are expected to grow by $3.1 million over the current year to $357.4 million, while expenses are projected to increase more – by $15 million to $369.4 million.
Dyer told the City Council that the shortfall would be closed without an increase in property taxes or layoffs of employees.
