Orlando to Host Major Music Festival at Citrus Bowl

Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium near downtown Orlando will be at the center of a major new music festival, Orlando Calling, set to launch over Veteran’s week-end on November 12-13. The two day inaugural festival is expected to celebrate the rich and diverse music scene from across the U.S. with headlines Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Bank, Kid Rock and the Killers.

In making the announcement on Thursday, Melvin Benn, CEO of Festival Republic and producer and promoter of Orlando Calling said, he is particularly excited at the thought of creating an American Music Festival in the sunshine state and that is has been a dream for a very long time.

“This will be the first of many festivals to be held on an annual basis in this wonderful city, and to be able to present such amazing artists in the first year is very special indeed,” Benn declared.

Utilizing the three adjacent parks as well as the Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium, Orlando Calling will present platinum-setting marquee acts, icons from the genres of Blues, R&B, Hip Hop, County, Rock and more. Benn said Orlando Calling would be very much an American music festival.

Orlando’s Mayor Buddy Dyer who joined Benn in announcing Orlando Calling, said the festival puts Orlando center stage of American music as the city showcases a unique music festival experience.

“Orlando Calling will add another unique, cultural opportunity for our community that will also provide additional economic impact throughout Central Florida,” Dyer stated.  “We are excited to host this event in the recently renovated Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium and to continue to bring more concerts and other events like this to that venue.”

Anticipating that Orlando Calling will become an annual festival for many years to come, Dyer added, to have Orlando known for such as event of this type is huge in terms of what it would mean for the arts and culture.
